Prototek and AMT PostPro: an SF100 technology upgrade

Prototek upgraded from older PostPro3D machines to AMT’s PostPro SF100 systems. Two SF100s fit in the space of one PostPro3D, so the upgrade doubled its processing volume without taking more floor space and cut setup between runs to 5 minutes.

What changed with the SF100

Prototek replaced a PostPro3D with two PostPro SF100 systems. The full case study lists these improvements:PDF

  • Setup between runs down to 5 minutes, from 30–60 minutes on the PostPro3D, so more runs fit in a day
  • Three to four racks per run on average and up to six, against two on the PostPro3D
  • Two SF100s fit in the space of one PostPro3D: twice the processing volume without more floor space
  • Nearly 80% less power per machine than a PostPro3D, because the SF100 needs no chiller. Even two SF100s use nearly 60% less power per hour than one PostPro3D
  • Machine turnaround twelve times faster
  • Lead times for customers 33% shorterPDF

In practice

Larger orders gained the most. An order that would have taken 10 runs on the PostPro3D took roughly 7 on the SF100, and the SF100 fit in an extra run each day, so the order was ready by the end of the day instead of midday the next day.PDF
