CASE STUDY

HILOS: 3D Printed Sustainable Footwear

HILOS_CaseStudy
A team of graduate students at Yale worked together with HILOS, BASF Forward AM, HP, and AMT to conduct the first environmental evaluation of 3D printed shoes to and benchmark 3D printing against traditional footwear. The findings reveal not only impressive headline numbers: 48% reduction in carbon, 99% reduction in water, but the nuances of how 3D printing design, development, and manufacturing can unlock new levels of sustainability.

CASE STUDY

Posedla: Customizable Bike Saddles

AQ5A7896
The Czech bicycle component manufacturer Posedla, chose to implement additive manufacturing to create their revolutionary bicycle saddles. With the goal of creating optimized bicycle saddles, Posedla drew on the experience and expertise of companies dedicated to additive manufacturing. Production of the saddle begins with HP’s Muli Jet Fusion print technology, and BASF 3D Printing Solutions material brand Forward AM Utrasint® TPU01 flexible polymer. Production of the saddle is then finalized with the crucial post processing step utilizing AMT PostPro.
