# Vapor smoothing systems, compared.

Vapor smoothing, also called chemical smoothing, seals and smooths 3D printed polymer parts with a controlled solvent vapor. This comparison sets the specifications of PostPro machines next to other makers’ vapor smoothing machines of the same class, each figure as its maker states it on its own website, and lists what to ask any supplier of vapor smoothing equipment before you choose.

PostPro figures: AMT’s product pages and brochure. Other figures: according to each maker’s own website, checked October 2026. Every source is listed under Sources and references at the foot of this page.

### How to read these tables

- Every figure is as its maker publishes it. AMT has not tested other makers’ systems.
- Makers state different things for size: AMT gives chamber size, DyeMansion chamber volume and, for the Powerfuse S, basket sizes and usable volumes, LuxYours process chamber and maximum part size. Fit a full build of your own parts against each.
- Makers count different steps in a cycle. Ask each maker for the time from loading to unloading for your parts.
- The class row uses each maker’s own words. Systems are grouped by the class their makers give them.
- A dash means the page AMT read does not state the value. It is never estimated or converted.
- This page compares the systems listed. It is not a survey of every system on the market.

01 In the tables

## DyeMansion

- **Company**: DyeMansion GmbH[12]
- **Based in**: Planegg (Munich), Germany[12]
- **Systems in the tables**: Powerfuse S, VX1
- **Process**: VaporFuse Surfacing (VFS)[3]
- **Loading, Powerfuse S**: Manual loading or automatic loading[3]

**Where the published lists differ.** DyeMansion lists PEBAX for the Powerfuse S. AMT’s published material lists do not name it; ask AMT about your material.

According to DyeMansion’s website, checked October 2026.

02 In the table

## LuxYours

- **Company**: LuxYours GmbH[4]
- **Based in**: Planegg, Germany[4]
- **Systems in the table**: LUX PRO 400, LUX PRO 700
- **Process**: Multi Purpose Smoothing (MPS), a physical-chemical process for vapor smoothing[6]

**Where the published lists differ.** LuxYours lists the AKF print process. AMT’s published process lists do not name it; ask AMT about your print process.

According to LuxYours’ website, checked October 2026.

03 A different method

## PostProcess Technologies

- **Company**: PostProcess Technologies[13]
- **Based in**: Buffalo, New York, USA[13]
- **System described here**: RADOR
- **Method**: Surface finishing with abrasive and polishing media and a detergent[14]
- **Print processes**: FDM, SLA, CLIP, PolyJet, SLS, MJF, metals and more[14]
- **Envelope**: 54 × 22 × 33 cm envelope; parts no more than 1/3 of it[14]
- **Machine size**: 137 × 72 × 100 cm (closed door)[14]

PostPro is AMT’s product brand; PostProcess Technologies is a different company. RADOR finishes parts with media and a detergent, a different method from vapor smoothing, so it is described here and not set in the tables. The two methods are often used one after the other: see [vapor smoothing vs media finishing](https://amtechnologies.com/learn/vapor-smoothing-vs-other-finishing-methods/#vs-media).

**Where the published lists differ.** RADOR is listed for SLA, CLIP, PolyJet and metal parts. AMT’s systems are not listed for them.

According to PostProcess Technologies’ website, checked October 2026.

04 Mass finishing

## Rösler and AM Solutions

- **Brand**: AM Solutions – 3D post processing technology is a brand of the Rösler Group[15]
- **Based in**: Untermerzbach, Germany[15]
- **Core business**: Machines and integrated systems for mass finishing, and dedicated consumables[16]
- **Post processing**: Post processing of 3D printed parts, including surface smoothing and polishing[17]
- **Vapor smoothing**: AM Solutions adds vapor smoothing through its investment in LuxYours[18]

LuxYours’ systems are in the table above. Mass finishing is a mechanical route, compared in [vapor smoothing vs tumbling and sanding](https://amtechnologies.com/learn/vapor-smoothing-vs-other-finishing-methods/#vs-tumbling-sanding).

According to the AM Solutions and Rösler websites, checked October 2026.

LuxYours, LUX PRO, DyeMansion, Powerfuse, VX1, Rösler, AM Solutions, PostProcess and RADOR are trademarks of their owners. AMT is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. They have not reviewed this page.

Buyer’s checklist

## How to compare any vapor smoothing system.

Ask every supplier the same eight questions, AMT included, and bring a build of your own parts to the conversation.

1. 01

   ### Chamber or part size?

Makers publish one or the other, or both. Fit a full build of your parts, not one part.
2. 02

   ### Which agent, and how is it handled?

Ask for the safety data sheet, and how the agent is stored, loaded and disposed of.
3. 03

   ### Your material, your printer?

Find your exact material and print process on the maker’s list, then test it.
4. 04

   ### What does the cycle include?

Heating, conditioning, smoothing, curing, drying, odor removal: ask for the time from loading to unloading.
5. 05

   ### What happens to spent agent?

Ask whether it is recovered in a closed loop, neutralized or disposed of, and what leaves the machine.
6. 06

   ### Space and utilities?

Machine size, operating area, weight, electrical supply, extraction and compressed air.
7. 07

   ### Controls and data?

Touchscreen, user access, recipe storage, and a connection to your MES or ERP.
8. 08

   ### Proof on your parts?

Ask for a test on your own parts, and for the method behind any published number.

Questions

## Comparing systems: questions.

Short answers. For your own parts, [ask an engineer](https://share.hsforms.com/1lOH82JpuRdSM-4wJ1ZeYlw45o6d?website_source=Vapor+Smoothing&utm_source=amtechnologies.com&utm_medium=learn-page&utm_campaign=site-2026&utm_content=compare-talk).

### How do I choose a vapor smoothing machine?

Start with your parts: material, print process, size and how many a week. Then compare chamber or part size, the smoothing agent, the cycle and what it includes, agent recovery, floor space and utilities, and the equipment around the machine: electrical supply, extraction and loading. End with a test on your own parts. The comparison tables on this page follow the same order.

### Where do the figures on this page come from?

Every figure for another maker’s system comes from that maker’s own website and is listed, with the date it was read, under Sources and references at the foot of this page. PostPro figures come from AMT’s product pages and brochure. AMT has not tested other makers’ systems.

### How current are the figures on this page?

Each figure is as its maker’s website showed it on the date given under Sources and references. Makers change their pages, so a figure here can fall out of date; a new version of this page cannot be published with a figure read more than three months earlier. If you spot something out of date, tell AMT through the contact form and AMT will check the maker’s page.

### Why do cycle times differ between makers?

Makers count different steps. Some figures include heating, evaporation or odor removal and some do not. To compare like with like, ask each maker for the time from loading to unloading for your parts.

### Does AMT publish its prices?

Yes. Each PostPro system has a starting price on the pricing page, excluding tax and shipping; your quotation gives the exact price. This page shows no prices for any maker.

### Can I test my own parts before choosing a system?

Yes. With the free PostPro benchmark you send AMT your parts, and AMT vapor smooths them and sends them back with before-and-after photos and a benchmark report.

### Which PostPro system fits my parts?

The SFX and SF2X are desktop systems. The SF50 and SF100 are floor-standing systems for production batches. Help me choose asks a few questions about your parts and suggests a system.

### Does this page cover every vapor smoothing system?

No. It compares the systems listed, using specifications their makers publish. It is not a survey of every system on the market.
